Help calculating max payload

Hello, complete newbie here. Needing some advice.

I'll try and keep this simple, imagine this…


…mounted on a boat (minus the handles), it's a camera by the way. I need to build one and our current issue is not knowing what hull can take what weight. The payload and other bits are around 9-10Kg.

We are planning on having a single large hull and two smaller outriggers for stability (and added buoyancy).
I've been looking at the Denny Steam Gun Boat (http://deansmarine.co.uk/shop/product_info.php/cPath/26_33/products_id/504) It's about the right length with a fairly slender width. Plus a nice minimal shape as we want a stealthy looking boat in the end.

So can anyone give us an idea of what weights these sized hulls can take? Or if there's any boat builder/nerds out there that could calculate it. Or if you have any other suggestions for different hulls and ideas.

Hi,

The weight of the camera is not too much of a problem, but your centre of gravity will give stability problems though. I would have thought a catamaran setup would be more appropriate.

You must also take into account the total weight of the propulsion unit/s, batteries and radio equipment, when working out the displacement of the craft you want to build.

we have run of a hull to test she will carry 7.8kgs to bring the hull to its marks

This is the Denny Steam boat hull you tested? Thank you if so, that's excellent.

So on that if we added two (buoyant) outriggers making it a kind of Trimaran I would assume that would increase the MAX payload?

I am also assuming a Trimaran is more stable than a Catamaran, which we did think of first?

out riggers will not give it more carry wt unless they are immersed in the water all the time and this will add a lot more drag and make steering much harder.
 tris and cat are only more stable in moderate seas, in any chop fro the beams they have a vicious roll moment, you problem will be top weight, with a camera? mounted high up you will need a low centre of gravity to give you stability
