HMS Bulldog

Hi guys. I've been away from this forum for some years on a non Deans Marine project. ??? As a break from that I am contemplating building the compact kit HMS Bulldog partly as a regatta boat for my better half and also as a nice addition to the destroyers I use at Surface Warship Association events. My question is this - has anybody on here built this kit and if so what motors would be suitable. The advice I have seen is to use the motors out of standard servos but I would prefer to use a more conventional approach. The model is about 24inches by 5 inches so although small is hardly miniature.

Hi Robin, good to hear from you, I used Mtronic vision 400 motors in my HMS Bramble which is similar in size to Bulldog they fit in easily and have ample power. ^^^

I would probably put something like a small flat 6 volt Buehler in her something like this

Hi Colin. How are things with you? That motor you recommended looks a good option and so cheap! Thanks for the suggestion. I have not ordered my kit yet - bit of a dilemma about where to purchase. Model Dockyard sell the kit for about £6 cheaper than the DM on-line shop price but there might be complications involved for the inevitable (this is not my first DM kit :wink1:) with requesting replacement parts - any thoughts?

Hi Robin, I ordered my first Deans kit from a well known model shop near Bournemouth and waited nearly 6 weeks for it, the next 3 kits I ordered direct from Deans and got each one in 3 days, pay the extra £6 it's not worth the hassle.   :)
