deans marine JULIE M STEAM LAUNCH TRIALS
« on: Sunday | 12. April 2026 | 11:34 hrs »
Hi
I had a call from a "expert" to tell me that the model of the Julie M steam launch should not be sold as it will be unstable and is not a safe working model, to sail it must have a Kee fitted under it, and it is top heavy to be safe to put on the water. I thought it best to check this out as we have a selling it for 28 years now and has not been raised before, also kit revues in model boats magazine and marine modeller and also in Germany and Dutch magazines. So took the display model from the showroom ( gear long removed ) refitted a kyte motor, had to make a coupling from bit and tube as the shaft in the model is 4ba, original cast metal propeller, ( can not change all new are M4 ) motor held in place with double sided tape, battery fitted 3800 ah nImH ( BIG) with d/s tape.
as a test fitted a block of lead 485 gram on top of the battery ( a good test ) r/c gear d/s tape in place.
Off to the lake on a very windy a blustery day for a good test run,
 No problem at all.
Back to the expert ? look at the video, Ah that is not real I am informed ? is GCI or Ai generated,
I asked when he build his model with the problem, never has, just looks at pictures and can tell ?
I am pleased at he is not in our boat club.
Will now do the same test with the Green Parrot ( same hull) as I think he will be back.
