This was HMS Tartar after the 3rd set of trials, which she finally passed. The rudder will have to be enlarged, as the one supplied doesn't give the amount of control needed to sail close with other 1/96 scale ships in formations. Other than that, all was successful and now to finish priming and painting and last details. This makes number 22 in the fleet. Yes, and it isn't upside down. This was taken about 2 months ago and the new photos will have detail close up shots - unpainted though. This weekend is sea trials number 3. I will take photos with cell phone and digital camera, maybe the camera will be accepted by the site. If not, Colin has graciously volunteered to post for me. I can see that he used other manufacturers parts (as I have) and he shows clearly parts that I was struggling with.
I use Scale Shipyard bits (that's what you call bollards) and the replaced the doors that were missing. My reason for SSY parts are because I drill a .032 hole in them through the deck and glue a piece of .032 brass rod through it. This creates a real hard point for docking mooring, or towing. I never have much luck posting to sites, but I keep trying. Update on HMS "Wild Thing". On Sunday, I had a 2nd set of trials. I replaced the rudder arm with a more positive locking system and tried to adjust the speed control. It turned out to be the problem, so another will have to be acquired through the purchasing system. Other then that, it handles well and is very stable. It was like a torpedo, not a ship.
