As I said I would in the last post the first two pictures are of the last derrick getting rigged.
As you can see the temporary lines are in place.
The next step is to secure the hooks, putting down ward pressure on the booms. Once both sides are done, the lateral block and tackle are put on and then the line is put in and the temporary line can be removed. After the side lines are in then the block and tackle between the booms can be done last.
You might have to at this point undue a knot and re cinch up a line. I can tell you from experience now, a tug here to much and a line will loosen up over there. Look at the entire project as you tighten up your lines. At this point super glue the knots let dry and cut off excess. Be careful not to get to happy with the #11 blade on the knife or you might be redoing a line.
I hope this may help someone start rigging the derricks.
As you can see from the last three pictures the fully rigged ship raises the quality of a very good model to that of excellent craftsmen model of the ship.
All I have left are life rafts and final fitting on the super structure and decals. Once I get the extra blocks I ordered from Deans Marine, I can finish up the flag poles and put in the overhead line and she is done.
I hope by the end of next week the build will be done.
I then have to paint my Merchant Marines and regular Navy for the ship.
While not in the water, I am going to build a storage cabinet for my model trains on the bottom with the ship on top of the cabinet. I plan on doing a diorama to show off the ship while not in the water.
I would like to ask how I might go about doing a video for the ship for the forum.
As I stated before the ship has two sound systems, ( Steam freighter engine in tune with the speed of the prop, and Navel ship talk and gun sounds.) smoke for the funnel and lighted interior, (Red light for the wheel house and white light for the super structure and the galley and rear gun housing, on sperate switches for black out running or dock sitting.). A video would really show the boat in all it's splendor. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Thank you,
Mike
