Latest News / storm damge at deans marine
« Last Post by rondean on Yesterday at 12:38:34 »
HI All
During the storm and gale force winds last week the test pond at deans marine has been damaged, the winds picked up a pallet and dumped it in to the pond, this ripped the liner and a LOT of water when though  the holes, washing away the sand and base.
The wind then got under the liner and this acted like a kite and ripped off the decking walkways around the top edge.
So out of action for a while as we have to remove 10 tons of sand and limestone , filter it all, and put in back in layers a  pack it all down and then fit the new liner.
While this is going  we will take the time to refurbish the side panels and walkways
For the regulars that use out test pond we thought it best to save you a journey and any club visits planned for the near future
Updates when we are back in action and sailing and testing can commence.
 Regards
 Deans Marine

Over night to dry property ..

It drys clear, waterproof/watertight.. ^^^ ^^^

I do all my portholes with this.. no matter what scale..
Thanks Colin,

These photos show your progression very well  ^^^

You mentioned in your previous post, that you were going to fill the portholes...!
I take it you mean.. clear glazing..

On my Enchantress,  I used ferrules to create the porthole affect, and then filled them with Deluxe "Glue 'N' Glaze"
Thanks Colin, I don’t think I’ll use the ferrules but I’m intrigued by the Deluxe Glue N Glaze, does it become hard and waterproof?

One of the reasons for the problems that you are having regarding posting photos..
They are probably larger that the forum allows, each photo can not be larger that 100kb..

You can either resize them yourself, or send them to me for resizing..

A quick update on the build, the R/C system is installed and working nicely, I went for the Radiolink 8ch set with the 2 receivers. The first coat of primer is on the hull and all of the superstructure is built and I'm now doing some finer details such as phones, drains etc. Once I get the hull painted I can fill the portholes and bond the decks down onto the hull. There was some filling and sanding on the main armament but overall the resin kit for them is very nice with some nice details on it that you wouldn't get on vac form. I think another 4/5 weeks and she can be commissioned into my fleet  :)  I cannot seem to post pictures on the forum, I think it's because I use Mac, If anyone can help with this then I have a few to show.

Latest News / GRAMPIAN PRIDE rescue vessel refurb
« Last Post by rondean on 15 April 2024, 16:26:22 »
Hi
Another refurb of the older models in the showroom, this one is approx 12 years old.
Old 27mg radio and bobs board and motor stripped out and new Nimh batteries, ESC and  motor fitted, linked through 1 x10amp ESC plus a battery for the bow thruster and a lot of ballast.
We spent a lot of time getting the balance spot on and motor fitted in cradles with foam pads to insulate from the hull, Double coupling,
Tested on a very windy day. but it was nice a sunny until we got to the lake she handled a treat just as the sun was setting, hoping to get a nice atmospheric shot into the sunset ,
maybe we can get her out again in the sunshine and no wind.
Model is  1/48th scale, length 830mm  beam 200mm running on 1 x falcon 5 motor on 6 volt NiMh batterie. and a 108-02 bow thruster on 6 volts
 Regards
