SHUTTLEWORTH NEW EVENT
« on: 10 May 2024, 15:29:22 »

 HI All

There is a new venture called Wings, Wheels and Water to be held at the Shuttleworth Trust.  This builds on an established aeromodelling meeting, Model Air, which has been held at Old Warden aerodrome, two or three times a year, for many years.

The Shuttleworth Trust wish to expand that event to include other popular modelling disciplines.  This year, for the first time, RC vehicles will display to the public led by the Bedford Electric RC Club.

Model boats, both static displays and sailing on a lake within the Old Warden complex, will be provided by eight regional model boats clubs, including PAMBC, with trade support.

We hope that this event will grow with support as a good number of model boats shows have been cancelled over the past years and to survive we need to join other hobbies .

The Model Hovercraft Association will also display alongside the model boat community.

With support from the model boat hobby and the model trade they hope to make this a annual event in the exhibition calendar, so if you can make the effort, this first event will be a trial run to learn what is needed and to improve the show.

There is another event planned There will be another Wings, Wheels and Water event at Old Warden on 27-28 July 2024.  The details for that event with be published nearer the dates.

There is a area set aside for the model boat element of the show alongside  the lake.

A grass parking area has been arranged for those participating in the model boat side of the show.

This field does not give direct access to the lakeside by vehicles but is adjacent to the show area

The lake is large enough for most model boats but there are only a couple places with firm level ground to launch and recover models.

The Luton Model Boat Club will provide a rescue boat to recover any models that get into difficulties.

The Shuttleworth Trust will be providing tickets to club members displaying and taking part in the show over the 2 days.

These tickets will give free entry to the hangars to view the Shuttleworth Collection aircraft and vehicles throughout the weekend.

The tickets will also provide free access to the Shuttleworth Trust for one month after the show except during any programmed events during that period.  A very generous gesture on the part of the Shuttleworth Trust.
It will assist the organisers if you drop a e-mail to them if you are attending to  mark.cooper@shuttleworth.org
