Hi Modellers
Latest progress on the Castle class,
Remove and assemble the large sheets of brass etchings
major project is the latice mast and all the
associated small ariels and antenna fixed to
the same.
Mast structure tacked together, them held in a block of timber
and soldered together.
assorted ariels and fiddly bits assembled and fixed
to the mast structure.
Two types of stanchions for this model, I will be fitting the
complete sets as these I find are best for a working
model and will spring back to shape in case of
the odd knocks and bumps in sailing and transporting models
Single brass etched ones look best on static or exhibition models tha
seldom get handled, I use Nickel silver rod for the rails, can be left
silver as well.
Stanchions heat sunk in place after priming first.
Davits and boats fitted after stanchion have been placed.
Ladders and float nets stowage assembled and fixed place.
Portholes reamed out with a sanding needles to give a good grip surface.
Ports filled with clear epoxy and allowed to dry, this will shrink
when dry, ports are them topped up with another small dab of epoxy
Next project Fo/castle ansd fine fittings.
