Despite the actual heatwave, Hartmut was able to achieve some progress with his build! He decided to use some green colour and wants to paint the superstructure light grey, so does not build her to scale.

have purchased a started 2nd hand kit, it seems complete apart from instructions but I have contacted Deans to buy a copy.
Some of the superstructure parts have been built and they look fairly well put together, unfortunately the woodwork installed in the hull has been put flush with the top edge it should be 1mm lower to allow for the deck, so that's coming out as are the motor mounts and the white metal tiller, also the grey bulkhead as it's way to wide.
It turns out the kit is from 1983 so about time it got finished.

General Discussion / Robert E Peary instructions

Hello, I've been given a Robert E Peary Kit. It has the plans but missing the instructions. Would anyone have instructions available? I would pay for a copy. Thanks. - Jack

Yes, he does very much, Colin! He is the most experienced active club member, aged 80+, that is why he asked me to post here. The build is at a slower pace now as he has to move to a different flat in the same house.

First sea trial 3 weeks after starting work on the Tantaside.  Very pleased with how it sailed.  Plenty fast enough on 2 x MFA385 with 7.2v ni-mh battery and single ESC.  Very manouverable and quite stable.  It has 250gm of ballast added and is riding a little high but there is lots of fittings, etc., to add.  Time to start painting and finishing it off.

Hartmut, a friend of mine and club mate, has begged me to post some photos of his HMS Guernsey build. He enjoys building the kit very much and has made good progress already. He made a first test run with a 40 mm handmade prop but that was too much for the model. He now has fitted a more suitable, smaller one which will be tested soon.

Importing the kit from the UK to Germany was no problem. It took less than a week including a visit to the German Customs authorities until it arrived safe and sound. :wink1:
