More when I have had a chance to paint and build it. Posted by: minerva« on: 04 February 2015, 14:22:22 »I have just received my1/96 scale 3 x bofors guns (for Dundas and Puma) These replace resin cast versions.
The 3 D printed ones from Shapeways are awesome in detail. Well done Mark for sorting these out in CAD form. I can now consider my above mentioned builds to be completed now, as I'd only tacked the resin versions onto the upperdecks in anticipation of a 3 D version coming onto the market. Will have to stick with scratchbuilding and resin moulding for now !! Fortunately we do have a club member with a 3d printer and he makes parts for us !

I had to give my director a good clean up in an ultra sonic bath plus a bit of fettling down with a blunt scalpel to remove the print bearing marks (mainly on the support column.) As you say superb fittings. I did not use the wire former to make up the centre arms in the radar dish, as mine are covered with lead sheet to simulate the white canvas covers for entering harbour. I just placed a piece of plastic rod in the centre to give the correct effect. I then made up scale size ships crest decals to place in the centre of the canvas cover. Tiddly ! Great news from mark. A long awaited Mk VII bofors gun is soon to be in production at shapeways. No one has ever made a decent one of these yet. I supplied Mark with the makers drawing from Vickers and it is soon to be available. Posted by: Troy Tempest« on: 14 January 2015, 15:08:36 »My MRS3 Director from Shapeways has just hit the mat
