Having studied the Manxmans record I discovered that the 50 cal machine guns were replaced about four weeks after Commissioning by six 20mm Oerlikons before tshe was sent to the Med. As I want to show the ship as she seved in this theatre I wanted to fit the Oerlikons. The guns are not so easy to come by however my friend Bill Mcgowan came to the rescue. Bill had been collecting these guns for some time for various ships.and gave me six. I have built over 300 brass Oerlikons in 1/350 scale for Various warships, however the Six for the Manxman were not easy to build and I took three days to do so.

I have finished installing the electrics in the Manxman. However I modified the instillation using longer shafts this will enable me to access all the running gear more easily. Coming from an Engineering back ground I always want ro be able to remove any faulty part having hands like shovels does not help hence moving the running gear makes it easier.

The speed controller and reciever are easily accessed. The engines are fitted upside down this also helps with removal.

The hull has brass bilge keels and a sheet of lead below the hull. The lead sheet is the fibee glassed and smooth off. The reason for fitting the lead below the hull helps maintain stability in long thin hulls.
