Yes, he does very much, Colin! He is the most experienced active club member, aged 80+, that is why he asked me to post here. The build is at a slower pace now as he has to move to a different flat in the same house.

First sea trial 3 weeks after starting work on the Tantaside.  Very pleased with how it sailed.  Plenty fast enough on 2 x MFA385 with 7.2v ni-mh battery and single ESC.  Very manouverable and quite stable.  It has 250gm of ballast added and is riding a little high but there is lots of fittings, etc., to add.  Time to start painting and finishing it off.

Hartmut, a friend of mine and club mate, has begged me to post some photos of his HMS Guernsey build. He enjoys building the kit very much and has made good progress already. He made a first test run with a 40 mm handmade prop but that was too much for the model. He now has fitted a more suitable, smaller one which will be tested soon.

Importing the kit from the UK to Germany was no problem. It took less than a week including a visit to the German Customs authorities until it arrived safe and sound. :wink1:

The hull is now ready for the decks to be fitted.  The rudder has been reinstalled using the correct sized tube, servo relocated so it is accessible, prop tubes refitted, electrics installed.

Following on from my first post, I have got the photos of the kit from the eBay listing which shows the condition it was obtained in.  I had said that the only salvageable bits were the main deck and the rudder post.  Unfortunately that wasn't the case, as the rudder post tube was for some reason made out of aluminium tube and oversized with brass sleeves on the rudder post.  So that has also been stripped out now and a new block and rudder post tube of the correct size installed.

So, the plywood keel is epoxied in place and filling and sanding are almost done.
Tomorrow I should be able to start cutting away the excess fibreglass along the top of the hull.
