The 3d printed fittings really do look the part and give the boat a wonderful touch. I am so much fascinated by those parts that you can see a box in the background with the parts for my next build, the ASR 128 Air Sea Rescue boat by Deans Marine. I could not resist and changed the course if the build, starting with preparing the fittings?? Posted by: Kiyoshi Sekiguchi« on: 14 January 2026, 06:52:41 »Arno,
Yes, really!! Every part of the ship has been built so decent and neat as if Arno's nature was shown here and there in the model. !! Kiyo Posted by: colin« on: 10 December 2025, 09:52:11 »Very good job Arno, coming along nicely, an inspiration for me to start on my falcon.

I have added a light at the stern and a searchlight. The 3d printed parts look very nice after the paint job. I am using Tamiya acrylics fir the job and an airbrush.
Next job will be soldering the leads and resistors to the LED wiring. Posted by: colin« on: 24 October 2025, 10:24:47 »coming along nicely
Posted by: swiftdoc« on: 21 October 2025, 19:51:25 »After having finished the paint job successfully and having applied the veneer I decided to not only have navigation lights but a searchlight as well (I do not know if the original ship had a searchlight but I need one for our club sailing event at night). The lights can be switched on and off from the transmitter using P115 micro switches from Action Electronics/component shop. The searchlight will be made from a smd led glued into a styrene tube of 4 mm inner diameter. The navigation lights will be using the smallest smd leds available.
The main deck and the wheelhouse deck are held in place by small neodym magnets. The decks have been strengthened by glueing carbon profiles underneath. Posted by: colin« on: 01 October 2025, 09:53:21 »nice work Arno..

I have to wait though as we have a very strong and cold wind from the East, blowing directly into the workshop when I leave the door open which is a must when spraying....

I now have finished the navigation lights. I used Deluxe Glue 'n Glaze for fixing the lights to the boxes. The SMD LEDs are the smallest I could find, they measure only 1 mm. Resistors will be used to dim the lights as they surely were not very bright in those days of the SS Falcon.... Posted by: colin« on: 24 March 2025, 09:38:54 »coming along very nicely

The cranes were made as a serial production , using the white metal parts that come with the kit. With a little bit of patience they turn out fine as well. The photo etched portholes were bought from Modellbau-Kaufhaus in Germany. They will be filled with clear epoxy after the paint job. |
