« on: 15 December 2011, 19:28:51 »
This is the D class destroyer built as HMS Duncan, leader of the B7 mid ocean escort group in may 1943. Duncan under the command of Commander Peter Gretton (convoy escort commander)
Fought a week long battle around convoy ONS5 which defeated the attacks of three U boat groups (50 U boats) This action turned the tide of the battle of the Atlantic.
Duncan sank U381, U 274 & U282.
This model was built with photographs taken during the ONS5 action from a family member.

Very nice Minerva.  I have a Daring myself still in box that I will be modifying to HMS Intrepid as she was at the time of her sinking in Leros in 1943.  Will need modifications to the TT and the weapons fit and also the Bridge Housing but I will be happy if the end result is a similar quality to yours.  Be a while before I get round to her as I have a MASB to do, then a 56ft Royal Oak Pinnace before then.  Got to finish the final details on my HMS Yarmouth Type 12 yet of course.

Hi Tom,
The deck brown is White Ensign models colour coats  "corticene" RN24.
As all of my family served in the RN including myself, hence the interest.
Actually started out making dolls houses and fittings then thought "I could make one of those"
so that's how it changed to ship building.
