Have you started your build already?
I have fixed the main mast booms using the elastic rigging file as for the rest of the rigging. That can be removed by tearing it off from the top of the booms in order to get access to the hatches underneath. :)
I am sure you will enjoy the build as much as I did.

I took her to the maiden voyage last weekend and it was a great success. You will notice that the main mast booms did not rest their posts due to the strong wind. I will have to find a way to fix them leaving the possibility to get access to the hatches with the rc gear underneath.

Steering is awesome due to the big rudder which gives a strong response.

It has been a while since I have posted here, so will have to give you an update now. The build is nearly finished and the model ready for the maiden voyage. This might still take some time though as our club pond is frozen.


The 3d printed fittings really do look the part and give the boat a wonderful touch. I am so much fascinated by those parts that you can see a box in the background with the parts for my next build, the ASR 128 Air Sea Rescue boat by Deans Marine. I could not resist and changed the course if the build, starting with preparing the fittings??

Yes, really!!  Every part of the ship has been built so decent and neat as if Arno's nature was shown here and there in the model. !!

Thanks for your nice comment Colin, much appreciated! I have made some progress with the fittings. I have added a light at the stern and a searchlight. The 3d printed parts look very nice after the paint job. I am using Tamiya acrylics fir the job and an airbrush.

Next job will be soldering the leads and resistors to the LED wiring.

After having finished the paint job successfully and having applied the veneer I decided to not only have navigation lights but a searchlight as well (I do not know if the original ship had a searchlight but I need one for our club sailing event at night). The lights can be switched on and off from the transmitter using P115 micro switches from Action Electronics/component shop. The searchlight will be made from a smd led glued into a styrene tube of 4 mm inner diameter. The navigation lights will be using the smallest smd leds available.


The main deck and the wheelhouse deck are held in place by small neodym magnets. The decks have been strengthened by glueing carbon profiles underneath.

The paint job is nearly finished. The decals with the depth markings will be applied tomorrow and then a layer of satin varnish will follow.

The bulwark supports have been added and everything is prepared for a first layer of etch primer. I have to wait though as we have a very strong and cold wind from the East, blowing directly into the workshop when I leave the door open which is a must when spraying....
