Waterproofing wooden hull models
« on: 18 February 2020, 11:00:35 »
Hi All,

As a beginner in RC model boat building I am aware that wooden boats can suffer from water leakages.  I did have a disaster with a kit I built up last summer.  I therefore thought that I would always build plastic/fibre glass/ABS type hulls however that may not always be the case.  My query is how do I ensure that wooden hull boats are waterproof?

I am aware that sealing joints with epoxy resin etc. is perfectly adequate in some cases but hulls can be large structures and I would not want the added cleaning and sanding problems.  Therefore,  please advise methods that you, as model boat builders, have found successful.  I look forward to assistance in this, for me, thorny problem.

Thank You
