Title: Cantiere Crete D.M. "TERMINATED"
Post by: MimmoC on 21 September 2017, 10:24:14
Buon giorno a tutti

In English:Good morning to all of you, before starting the Pieter Boele I would like to do some more training and I have begun a new building site....Capri!!!!!, if I am allowed the name is unusual for an English boat. Nevertheless she is a nice little boat of 44 cm. The kit is well made, practically everything is inside, only the motor, battery esc and the radio is missing, the rest is all there: hull, propshaft, rudder and several other fittings. I forgot, only blemish, if you allow, the instructions: they are in English, for you it is OK but for me (for me it was only French, I am from the old guard).... nevertheless with a translator and your help I will proceed slowly, very slowly (see my Oulton Lady).

@ Mimmo: La Oulton Lady è pronta? Did you finish the Oulton Lady?

in English:
As for the Oulton I had some problems with the cabin a bit bleak, however I interpreted the instructions wrong and I reversed the peace, the experience with the OL made me overcome the first obstacle.
At first I used plastic glue and saved me when I had to disconnect, then Epoxy.

In English:The build proceeds, I have finished the cabin and then I have fixed the rudder, followed by the propshaft included in the kit and have tried to fix the motor. By the way, this one is a Mabuchi 540 which seems to be too big and heavy!!!!!!

See you soon. PS: Excuse me for confusing the name of the ship. It is not Capri but CRETE.

@ Mimmo: Hai ragione, questo motore è troppo grande. Qualcosa come questo sarà sufficiente: http://deansmarine.co.uk/shop/product_info.php/cPath/5_13/products_id/2994

English: You are right, this motor is much too big. Something like this is sufficient.

Intanto i  lavori procedono:

Meanwhile work proceeds: I have test fitted the two bulkheads which will be fixed after having finished the motorization. Until next time.

Pazienza, ora aspetto l'altra risposta per poter saldare.

Good morning (questo l'ho imparato),
Allora ho preso:
- Motore da 400   (arrivato)
- Batteria da 2200 lipo 35-55sc  (arrivata)
- Esc  QUICRUN WP-1060-BRUSHED 60/360A Waterproof 2-3S regolatore elettronico per motori a spazzole 30120201 (in casa)
- Mini servocomando (arrivato)
- Radiocomando e ricevente  (devono arrivare )
- Riceventi 2                     (devono arrivare)

In English.
Good morning (this I learned),
With DM all fixed now I wait for the package, in the meantime I got various types of glue and I took the motorization to the full as I left everything to the sea and unfortunately we did not come back as my Labrador Igorino got sick and it seems that will have little, but I hope so much.
Then I took:
- Engine from 400 (arrived)
- 2200 lipo battery 35-55sc (arrived)
- Esc QUICRUN WP-1060-BRUSHED 60 / 360A Waterproof 2-3S Electronic Controller for Brush Motors 30120201 (at home)
- Mini servo drive (arrived)
- Radio transmitter and receiver (must arrive)
- Receivers 2 (must arrive)

I think it will suffice, if there is something to change, I appreciate the intervention.
To this day I installed and stuffed the cabin and the bridge, I did the tests without gluing because I expect the motorization to be complete.

In English:the boat measures 44 cm and with full load weighs 478gr, according to your experience do I have to change something or is it okay this way, I do not want her moving like a small snail when completed.

- I do not know this model but the components used seem to be fine I suppose.

Good morning,

In English: Good morning, this morning the parcel from D.M. arrived with the glue Super Acrylic and the bottle of Plastic Magic (thank you for that proposal to Mister B., works perfectly).
@ Ron Dean: Thanks for the hint concerning the glue
@ Arno: Thanks for the response, you encouraged me

Now I will continue the build. Yesterday night I have fixed the rudder and the propshaft and this morning I realized that the prop hits the hull when turning but the glue is hard like a stone. I will try to remove it by using a milling machine and try to fix it again lower.

Until next time with photos.

If you heat the prop tube with a soldering iron, the glue will soften, and you might be able to move the prop tube ...
But be careful with the heat, you could damage the vac formed hull..!

At some time I will be building this kit as well, it's on my workbench as a to do..!
but I will be installing two propshafts and motors...

Title: Re: Cantiere Crete D.M.
Post by: swiftdoc on 19 October 2017, 12:34:39
In English:Operation done successfully, only a small hole..very small but insignificant. I did not know about that technique, you never stop learning. Well, I have lowered the hole for the propshaft in order to get it in line and now I will have to close the upper part of the shaft which I think will do with a piece of plastic using acetone as a solvent.

rieccomi  a ...rompere!!!!!!
Sabato e Domenica l'ho dedicati allo scafo,quindi...

In English: here I am again to .... break!!!!!
Well now you can see something but I still have to improve my skills, I hope to have the time in order to see something important that sails. On Saturday and Sunday I worked on the hull, so... I have repaired the hole at the propshaft using car body filler, then I have cleaned the hull a second time using a light abrasive and detergent, followed by preparing the color for the area under the water line, then I prepared the flat white for the cabin and finally wooden color for the exteroir of the cabin. This morning I have tried to install the motor but...I find it difficult as it is very full so maybe I have to change something.

Title: Re: Cantiere Crete D.M.
Post by: MimmoC on 26 October 2017, 12:20:47
Title: Re: Cantiere Crete D.M.
Post by: swiftdoc on 26 October 2017, 20:32:04
In English: I have nearly finished her, at least I think so. I have changed the colour under the waterline, it had to be red matte instead...it was nearly brown so I have changed it to navy blue with a red water line. To the deck I have applied a very light brown which I had to repeat to get a contrast to the cabin. I have chosen wood brown colour for the cabin and I have fixed the window glazing.

Ultima modifica:

In English: Latest modification: I did not paint the deck but planked it with veneer strips fixed with contact glue and the result gets quite near to reality. Now she is nearly ready for the maiden voyage although I have realized that the oiler on the propshaft is directed too much to the stern, I would like to remove that once more but am not sure of being capable to do so.

the launching is approaching, at the moment I am installing the fittings but I have faced a problem with the handrails at the stern...they are longer than the cabin itself and so I do not know if should cut them, but they are not in line with those of the main cabin, or should I omit them!!!!!Regarding the rest I have opened up the hatch of the rudder as it was too small to get in with my fingers.

Buon giorno a tutti,

Yesterday the new hull has already arrived, s on my first sail the gas stick stuck I lost control and it hit the concrete wall at the pond, fortunately the hull is very resistant and no greater damage occured.

I wish all of you a happy New Year with lots of modelling
