Topic: New DUKW build

hello all, i want to build the DUKW model made by Deans, several of the links to rolling stock point to stockist that no longer supply these parts, ( axle, gearbox , drive shafts, chasis. so before ordering the kit i was hoping someone could point me in the direction of a more up to date supplier. i want to make it either all wheel drive or just rear axle drive. would be very grateful for any build info, tips , hints. etc. regards Keith

there are a few People out there that do axles and the rest of the stuff, if and whether they fit the Job i do not know...
as i do not know the dimensions that are required...
all i know is that a Long time ago, the axels from the Robbe Panther fitted..

your best bet would be, come to Dortmund (intermodellbau, trade fair), and speak with the axel experts in Hall 6.. there are a lot of them, and some axels would probably cost you an arm and a leg..

personally I would probably go with the axels from Lili modellbau...  I will give them a ring and see what they have to say..

after the phone call, he says that the 1:12 parts should fit as the axel width is about 180mm which is about the same as the Robbe Panther... and the Tamiya axels...

thanks for the information, sadly a trip to Dortmund is not possible, but the other information is helpful. i have a tamiya truck which has seen better days, so im looking to mod the chassis and bearing's to fit as the running gear and incorporate some of the lights and sound system in the build.

 I have built a dukw suspesion. a couple of years ago but I can give you a telephone number .Of a guy currently involved with a DUKW. IF it will help  please contact JOHN VYNAL ON 01733 267271.  HE is currently involved with a system using a different set of axle,s. As you will be aware that Robbie no longer are available . once again i am in your debt, have spoken to the man you told me about, had a lengthy conversation with him and received some good advice. have ordered some plans and will study them to see which way forward i next. regards Keith
